Meet Gretchen

I’m Gretchen Edwards, an EMDR-trained licensed independent clinical social work associate (LSWAIC) and mental health therapist with in-person therapy offices in Vancouver, Washington.

I am also able to provide telehealth services for those who live in other parts of the state or who prefer the convenience of remote therapy options. My approach in working with clients is warm, collaborative, and relationship-focused, and I recognize that growth and healing in a therapeutic environment are best supported in a foundation of safety, trust, openness, and respect.

I have received additional trainings in art in therapy, play therapy, DBT, mindfulness, IFS, interpersonal neurobiology, and grief therapy, and am currently a Raising Kids with Big Baffling Behaviors Course Facilitator in Training. I frequently work with kids with trauma and/or adoption histories and their caregivers, individuals in life transitions, first responders, caregivers, and I believe that grief is at the heart of trauma. I work with clients across the lifespan (ages 5+) using trauma-informed approaches that allow you to work through your feelings at the pace and comfort level that feels best to you.

  • I primarily work with parents, children, teens, and women navigating life transitions. Many of my clients are experiencing things like parenting challenges, emotional overwhelm, life changes (like divorce or empty nesting), or past trauma. I’m especially passionate about helping families better understand behaviors and build stronger, more connected relationships.

  • My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. Together, we’ll explore what’s coming up for you at your own pace. I take a trauma-informed, relational approach—helping you understand the “why” behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while building tools to feel more grounded and confident.

  • Yes. I enjoy working with children and their caregivers, especially in supporting emotional regulation, behavior understanding, and family connection. Depending on the age of the child, I often involve parents in the process so we can create meaningful, lasting change both in and outside of sessions.

  • I am currently an out-of-network provider, but I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many clients appreciate the added privacy and flexibility this offers. I’m happy to walk you through how this works.

  • Finding the right therapist matters. I may be a good fit if you're looking for a warm, supportive space where every feeling is welcome, and you're open to exploring your experiences with curiosity and compassion. If you're unsure, I offer a consultation so we can connect and see if it feels right for you.
