Welcome to Healing

…and welcome to Petoskey Stones Therapy! I’m Gretchen Edwards, a clinical social work associate and EMDR-trained psychotherapist who spent more than 15 years living in Michigan’s lower peninsula. “What on earth is a Petoskey stone?” Petoskey stones are a distinctively patterned fossilized coral rock found primarily along the banks of Lake Michigan in northern lower Michigan. These uniques stones have long been thought to encourage emotional healing, assisting us in letting go of negative feelings and cultivating a sense of tranquility, peace, and vitality.

My Approach

I believe that healing doesn’t come from being “fixed”—it comes from reconnecting with the strength and wisdom that already exists within you.

My approach is rooted in the idea that you are not broken. Instead, you may be carrying patterns, experiences, and emotions that once helped you navigate life, but no longer serve you in the same way. Together, we gently explore these layers with curiosity and self-compassion, creating space for understanding rather than judgment.

Therapy here is a collaborative process. You are the expert of your own experience—I’m here to help you uncover and access the internal resources you may have lost touch with along the way.

Through a trauma-informed and supportive lens, together we’ll focus on helping you:

  • Understand your thoughts, emotions, and responses

  • Build a sense of safety within your body and mind

  • Reconnect with your inner voice and intuition

  • Develop tools that feel natural and sustainable for you

There’s no pressure to rush or force change. Just a steady, supportive space to come back to yourself—at your own pace.

A place to begin again.

When you’re ready, we’re here.
